I have been eyeballing the Timpanogos ridgeline for years, but have only ever done the main summit. After years of plans falling through, I finally did some of the north ridgeline today. I did this loop a few years ago and was excited to try it again. I did it solo this time and chopped about an hour off my elapsed time. Two recent trips up my favorite loop – once in each direction. Water infrastructure work at the top of Battle has turned some of the trail into a dirt road. Bummer.
Masks on and armed with gallons of hand sanitizer, we met some old family friends and their kids to explore a bit of Rocky Mountain National Park.
This was my wife’s true first “summit” hike. It was longer than she thought, steep, hard.
Work took me down to the Swell, so I kidnapped the kids and brought them along for an afternoon at Goblin Valley State Park.
Up the SW ridge, down Dry Canyon. Big Baldy is still as steep and gorgeous as ever. I think the downhill hurts more than the climb though.
